Pocketful of Posies....

I found these lined post-it notes at the Dollar Store. I knew they'd come in handy!! The pad measures 3-15/16" x 5-15/16". I cut my Bashful Blue cardstock at 8-3/8" x 6" and scored it at 4" from each side of the 8-3/8" side. That left a 3/8" section in the center for the depth of the pad. I covered the front and back with some designer paper from Die Cuts With A View..."Pocket Full of Purple- Posies Glitter Print". I sponged the edges of my designer paper and the Bashful Blue cardstock with Bashful Blue ink. I made a little tab using my tag punch from SU! and attached it to the back, sandwiched between the Bashful Blue and the designer paper. I added a little magnet to the front (sandwiched between the cardstock and designer paper) and attached another magnet to the tab to act as the closure. I used the medallion stamp from "True Friend" by SU! to decorate the front. It was pretty easy & turned out cute, I think.

Purpose Today....

“Daniel purposed in his heart.” Daniel 1:8 NKJV
Everywhere you turn it seems that there are "victims"...victims of circumstances beyond their control....victims of one thing or another.  Daniel was one of those victims.  He was carried off into exile in Babylon when King Nebuchadnezzar had conquered Daniel's homeland.  He lost everything.  He wound up living in a place he didn't want to be,  among people who spoke differently and worshipped differently. Daniel could have spent his time whining and complaining about the things that he couldn't control.  Instead, he purposed (determined) in his heart not to be defiled by "eating the king's food" (Daniel 1:8).  I don't think the phrase "the king's food" meant only the things he was given to eat. I think Daniel meant that he would not defile himself by allowing the Babylonian culture to influence what he believed and how he lived. Daniel decided he would honor God...even in the small things.  It's the small battles that prepare us for the big ones. When Daniel said no to the small things, that gave him the strength to say no when he was faced with idol worship and the strength and faith to face the lion's den.
So often we allow what others do or say to influence the way we act or feel. We might never be able to do anything to change how people treat us, but we can be in control of what we allow ourselves to read, listen to on the radio, watch on television, and especially the words that come from our lips. We can make choices about those things...wise choices...choices that honor God.  When we purpose in our hearts to honor Him, He blesses us and we begin to see Him working in our lives in ways we'd never imagined.
Father, I thank You for this beautiful day and for the fact that I am free to make choices about what I think, do, read, watch, listen to, and say. I pray that the choices I make will honor You.  Help me to begin by making the right choices in the small things I face each day. I love You. Amen and amen.

Praise....

"Bless the LORD, O my soul; and forget none of His benefits."

"Because Thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips will praise Thee."

"I will give thanks to Thee, O LORD my God, with all my heart, and will glorify Thy name forever."

"Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD!"

--Psalm 103:2, 63:3, 86:12, 150:6 NASB

There are times in everyone's life when the circumstances make it difficult to think about praising.  Yet, God's Holy Word tells us that we must forget NONE of His benefits. With that in mind, there is ALWAYS something to offer praise for.  Even when we can't think of anything specific, we just praise God because He is worthy of our praise.

One way to praise the LORD is to thank Him daily in prayer.   He is our daily bread...our living water.  I pray daily on my way to work while I'm driving.  It's always been a little embarrassing  to appear to be talking to myself as I'm driving, but these days with all the people who have hands-free calling with their cell phones, nobody thinks anything about it.

We can also praise Him through song.  When we sing with others, we are all praising the same God with the same words, thinking the same thoughts.  We come before the same Savior, filled with the Holy Spirit, praising together. That's what Christian fellowship is about.

I love to sing along with "The Message" on XM Radio while I'm in my car. Nobody hears me (thank goodness for them!), except God, and no matter what I sound like, it's a sweet sound in His ear. He wants His children to praise Him.

Father, I thank You for this day and for the summer ahead of me. Thank You for the school year that's behind me and the one to look forward to. I pray for a restful, recuperative time away from work. Help me to use my time wisely and not squander the precious moments on things that don't matter. I love You. Amen and amen.

I'm Baaaaack!

Good heavens, it's been forever since I've posted! Life has a way of turning things upside down and inside out. I've been dealing with all sorts of things, including a sinus infection and a reaction to the medicine which made everything worse. I hope we're on the high road now.... School is finally out and I'm so ready for summer!

Anyway, I have a few projects to share with you over the next couple of days. The first one is a pocket card I made for my niece Clara's 8th birthday...Happy B'day, Clara!!!!! I used Dawn's tutorial to make this one.

Lots & Lots of Ladybugs...

This is my little sweet Ladybug all ready for her very first dance recital last Saturday. Well...she didn't dance on stage, but her mommy did!! She danced on her Granny's lap!

This little ladybug treat box is made with the Top Note die from SU! I layered red on black and punched holes using the 1/2" circle punch for the ladybug dots. I saw something similar to this on another blog, but I'm sorry I don't remember where it was. It is not my creation. I did change it up a little, though, and added a wire handle.
I broke down and bought the Wee Tees set from Gina K Designs...naturally, for the ladybug! I got it last week, but haven't had time to play with it until today.

I hope everyone had a wonderful, relaxing Mother's Day! I'm sad to say that I spent the whole day sick in bed with a terrible sinus infection. I went to work Monday, only as a warm body though. I was able to get an appointment to see the doctor Monday afternoon, and after a shot and some antiobiotics I'm feeling so much better. Not nearly 100%, but getting there.

Deliverance...

"Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all." Psalm 34:19

Surely, this includes illness. I've been sick for since last week and I'm praying and believing the Lord for complete healing. Any affliction...illness, depression, weight struggles, financial distress, family issues, etc.....the Lord can AND will handle them all. He will deliver the believer from them. His Word says that if we ask, we shall receive. We have not because we ask not. Lord...I'm askin' and believin'!!

Father, I thank You for this day and the hope of healing to come. Thank You for the promise of deliverance from affliction. I'm so ready to feel better, Lord. I love You. Amen and amen.

Chirp Up...

chirp up

Just a simple little card using SU!'s Very Punny stamp set and some retired Summer Picnic paper.

I'm Not My Own...

“God bought you with a high price. So…honor God with your body.” 1 Corinthians 6:20

In other words...respect your temple.   God's Word promises that on resurrection day our earthly bodies will be raised to live forever (1 Corinthians 15:42).  But, what about now? What a conviction this is for me! I was just sitting here thinking about the fact that my knee wouldn't hurt (or threaten to give out) if I would lose some weight.  Part of honoring God with my body is to exercise, eat right, and get enough sleep. Hmmmm...I don't do any of those.  I seriously need to rethink my habits.

Father, I thank You for this day and for the fact that this old body will be raised to live forever on the last day. In the meantime, Lord, please help me to treat my body with the respect that You intended.  I love You. Amen and amen.

Congrats!

grad card

This little graduation card is for Richard's cousin's son graduating from high school in Atlanta this year. The image is from Provo Craft's Color Me School collection.  I printed out the blackline image and colored it with my Prismas and Gamsol. Don't look too closely at the tassel...I made it from embroidery thread in my stash.

Congrats, Walker!! We love you!

We Might Be Down...

...but we're gonna get back up!

“We are more than conquerors.” Romans 8:37 NKJV

Life has a tendency to throw us all curve balls from time to time. Our family has had more than our share...but God's Word promises that "we are more than conquerors". We just have to keep praying and searching. We will find the good in all of these stumbling blocks. The difference between those who get knocked down and those who get back up is that the victors turn stumbling blocks into stepping stones.

Father, I thank You for this day and the promises You give to each and every one of us. I know that You are taking care of us. We have difficult days ahead, but we are more than conquerors! I love You. Amen and amen.

Sadness...

I seems like I haven't stamped in sooooo long! We lost my father-in-law last Sunday night (after a 10 month battle with cancer), so this week has been a sad whirlwind. I am so ready for our lives to get back to normal....if there is such a thing....but normal will have to wait. Stella's dance recital is next weekend, so Ladybug will be staying with us a lot more than usual (I'm doing the happy dance!!!!).
