Have You Hugged A Teacher Today?

toty notepads

Notepad holders: Real Red, Old Olive, Basic Black, Whisper White

Stamp: PTI, Stamps by Judith, and Stamping Bella

Normally, in our county, we have an Open House and a countywide teachers' meeting prior to the opening of school. However, due to mandatory furlough days for teachers, the opening of school this year was very unusual. We only had two days of preplanning, no Open House, and no countywide meeting. Most of us don't really look forward to the countywide meeting....because we're thinking of everything we have left to do back at the school. A bright spot in the meeting, however, is the Teacher of the Year program and the announcement of our new County Teacher of the Year. I thought it was kind of a rip-off for the teacher-of-the-year nominees, but the administration tried to make up for it by having a short program and announcement at the first high school football game Friday night.

Oh, make a long story short, I wanted to come up with a little something for our school's teacher of the year to show her how much we appreciate what she does for children. She's a wonderful language arts teacher and we're very proud of her. I also made one for the county teacher of the year. She's not at my school, but she's a wonderful teacher also. The nominees from all our county schools are fantastic teachers and I'm sure choosing just one was a very tough decision to make.

Sweet Little Honey Bee....

What a honey of a box! I love how it turned out....and it's perfect for holding a bag of Bit O' Honey candies from the Cracker Barrel. The Fancy Favor Bigz XL Die (#115965) from SU! makes the perfect size box for any little treats you might want to give. I inked up some bubble wrap with More Mustard and So Saffron, then pressed it onto So Saffron Cardstock to get the background design. The sentiment is from PTI and the stamps are from SU!

From Your Favorite Little Pumpkin...

IMG_3482 IMG_3483

This card was fun to make! I used the pumpkins from The More the Merrier (level 3 hostess set) from SU! The front of the card has a strip of heavy acetate which allows the designer paper from the inside to show through. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.

A Spooktacular Halloween Greeting...

IMG_3486 IMG_3487 IMG_3488 IMG_3489

I loved making this card and matching envie! The card is a 5x5 square and I didn't have an envelope to fit, so I made one. I used a large rectangular envelope (a little larger than 5 x 7), sealed it, cut the end off, notched one side with a circle punch, and added a flap made from designer paper. The stamp is from Just Rite.

What's On the Tip of Your Tongue?

“The tongue of the wise brings healing.” Proverbs 12:18

Have you ever been hurt by careless words someone spoke?  If you have, you know that hurtful words can influence the way you feel about yourself. It can damage your self-esteem. Once words are spoken, they cannot be taken back. The best advice is to think before you speak and not to say anything to someone that you wouldn't want them to say to you.

Father, I thank You for this day and for the wisdom of Your Word. Help me to always think about the feelings of others before I speak. Your Word says that the tongue can bring healing. Help me to be a healer and not a destroyer. I love You. Amen and amen.

Beautiful...Wish You Were Here!

I took this pic with my phone when I got out of my Tahoe at the new lake house Friday evening. The house faces west, so the sunsets are gorgeous on the lake. Can't wait to go back this weekend!

Needless to say, this summer has been busy for house, babysitting, workshops for school, etc.  Not much time for stamping....but I have NOT given up!  School is back in session and we're slowly settling into somewhat of a routine. My daughter goes back to nursing school next week, so we'll have to get adjusted to that schedule with the baby. Stampin' Up! has some great new holiday stamps and designer papers which I can hardly wait to dig into.  My plan is to start back with my monthly stamping classes, possibly the end of August...if not, definitely in September.
