Hi Honey....

IMG_2625-2honey bee side

This is the first time I've tried the bubble wrap technique. I saw a "bee card" in a magazine and it had the bubble wrap background, so I thought it would be perfect for Just Buzzin' By by SU!  I inked up a strip of bubble wrap with So Saffron and More Mustard and then pressed my Shimmery White cardstock onto the bubble wrap. The effect is so cool!

What's the Word?

“Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, but a good word makes it glad.” Proverbs 12:25

Everyone needs encouragement.  Who has God put into your life to cheer on, or raise up? It doesn't have to be much...even the tiniest word of praise or encouragement can change a person's life. Who do you need to speak to today?

Father, I thank You for this day and for sending people into my life to encourage me. I pray that I might be an encouragement to others. Show me who needs a word from me today. I love You. Amen and amen.

Upsy Daisy...

We're back from our wonderful vacation at Palm Coast, Florida. We had the best time! The weather was gorgeous. I have tons of pictures that I want to share. You know I can't pass up the opportunity to show off my little Ladybug! Check out the slideshow at the top right of my blog.

This card uses embossing to make the main image pop. The base card is Sahara Sand. I stamped the main image on designer paper from the Bella Rose collection. I matted the designer paper on a piece of Sahara Sand, followed by Chocolate Chip and a piece of To the Nines textured specialty designer paper. I stamped the sentiment in Chocolate chip on Sahara Sand and matted it on Chocolate Chip. I put a strip of To the Nines paper at the bottom of the card. A little ribbon slide from Hodgepodge Hardware (Very Vanilla) holds the Chocolate Chip taffeta ribbon.

Now, I want to show you what creature showed up in my stamp room...just looking at me....ICK!!! It's a giant yucky, icky, grasshopper!! Ewwwww!!!

Hope and Trust...

“Happy is he…whose hope is in the Lord.” Psalm 146:5

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding." Proverbs 3:5

We all know that money is a necessary part of life. So does God. But, in today's financially embattled world, many families have had to make huge changes in the way they live...not necessarily for the better. Often there is a whole lot more month at the end of the money. Experts tell us to budget our money. Budget? What budget? We look at our bleak situations and there's nothing to do but laugh...or cry. Crying won't help, though. That's our cue to trust God to supply our needs. He expects us to do our do all we can do...but then we must trust Him to step in when we've exhausted our resources. Now, that doesn't mean He's going to jump right in and provide funding for extravagant purchases. But, I've heard so many times where God has provided what was needed when all hope was lost. Do your part. Trust God. Therein lies our hope.

Father, I thank You for this day and for the hope that we have in You. I don't know many people who haven't been affected by the financial woes of our society. At times we are tempted to throw up our hands and cry...or give up. Yet, all we have to do is look up. Our hope is in You. Thank You for being there and providing what we need. I love You. Amen and amen.

I found this cute little post-it pad in the $1 Spot at Target. I thought it would be perfect for a little 4th of July gift. I made the post-it holder for it using Mary's tutorial that I found on YouTube. Check it out!

The Cost of Unforgiveness...

“Pray for those who mistreat you.” Luke 6:28

Grace.....we all need it. Nobody can go through life without being hurt, but what happens next is the really important part. Are you better....or bitter because of it? Bitterness is an infection of your attitude and mood. It can cause you to lose your friends and alienate people. Nobody wants to be around a bitter person. If you're not careful, bitterness in others can also rub off on you, leaving you with negative attitudes. Have you every been around someone who only wanted to talk about "what so-and-so did to me"? Do you know someone who keeps scores on the wrongs they've been dealt? Hopefully, it's not you. If you've allowed some bitterness and unforgiveness towards someone to creep into your life and haven't let it go, remember what Jesus said..."For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.." (Matthew 6:14-15).
Nobody really knows what anyone else has been through, but Jesus does. Nobody has ever been treated worse than Jesus, yet he was preaching forgiveness while on the cross. If He can do it, surely we can. God will give us the grace to do it!

Father, I thank You for this day and for the grace You offer so freely. I ask You to forgive me for any bitterness I've harbored in my life, and help me to freely offer forgiveness to those who hurt me. I love You. Amen and amen.

Lime Popsicle...

This is a total CASE of a card done by Angie at Chicnscratch...of course, I've seen the same card in many places across the Internet. I don't know where it originated, but I did use Angie's tutorial to make mine. I made some of these last summer, but I just love it in Gable Green because it reminds me of my fave popsicle...Edy's Lime fruit popsicles!

Open the Eyes of My Heart, Lord...

“I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened.” Ephesians 1:18

Anytime you're in a crisis, it's easy to lose perspective.  Some people tend to withdraw from everyone and everything around them. That would be me. My vision becomes blurred by my situation. My perceptions are not what they should be.  No matter how bad things may appear, keep your eyes focused on Jesus. He's the One who can clear up your vision and help you find the answers.  It's when we take our eyes off Him that we lose our way.

Father, I thank You for this day and for enlightening the eyes of my heart when I feel all hope is lost. Thank You for showing me the way. I love You. Amen and amen.

Pretty Maids All In a Row...

This sweet little ballerina stamp is from Stampabilities, purchased on sale at Hobby Lobby. The sentiment is a rub-on from my stash.

We'll be heading home on Saturday, so my posting will be more consistent. It's hard to get Internet access here, for some reason. The wireless router in our condo is not getting along with my laptop... :(

Sticks and Stones....

"The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?"  Proverbs 18:14

"In your anger, do not sin." Ephesians 4:26

We say, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me,” but most of us know that's not true. Words have the ability to wound deeply and a person can die of a crushed spirit.  The person who spoke the words (even in jest) can live to regret the damage they inflicted. Very seldom does anyone get a "do-over".  When you are angry, don't say things that might cause you a lifetime of regret.  Ask God to show you what needs to be said...what needs changing...not only in others, but more importantly in yourself.

Father, I thank You for this day and for the truth of Your Word. Thank You for giving me guidance and direction. I ask You to forgive me for any words that I've spoken which hurt others and ask that You help me to temper my words with love and kindness, even in anger. I love You. Amen and amen.

What's in Your Hand?

“What is that in your hand?” Exodus 4:2

God asked Moses that question.  Moses was holding his shepherd's staff.  That represented his livlihood...his income...his financial security.   God asked him to be willing to lay it down.  He still asks us that today. What's in your hand?  Your money....your gifts....your education...your job....your relationships? Therein lies many of the strengths God has given each one us. Strengths....and of course, we have our weaknesses. Perhaps what we view as a weakness God views as a strength. Sometimes we think God couldn't use us because of our weaknesses.  Well, who better to speak to and minister to those who are hurting than those who've been hurt themselves? Who better to minister to the imprisoned than those who've experienced imprisonment? I'm not just talking about incarceration...imprisonment can mean all sorts of things.  The point is, God can use us if we will let Him.

Father, I thank You for this day and for the strengths You've given me. I also thank You for the weaknesses because I know that it is through our weaknesses that we are made strong. I love You. Amen and amen.

Prima Ballerina....

We're at the beach!!!! Yeah!!!! But, with only limited Internet access...soooooo, my posting might not be early in the day. This card is one I made with the punch art ballerina I created. I used a new Stampabilities "Prima Ballerina" stamp I got on sale at Hobby Lobby.  Scroll down a few posts to get the details on the ballerina.

We're having a fab time and I can hardly wait to post some of the cute Ladybug pics I've taken, but that will have to wait until I get back home.

Cardstock: Regal Rose, Whisper White
Designer Paper: Sweet Always

Searching for a New Plan?

“Good planning and insight…bring…you honor and respect.” Proverbs 3:21-2

I am forever searching for a better planner (agenda) thinking that's all it's going to take to make me more organized and efficient. It looks like I would have learned by now that a "better planner" is not what I need. I need to consult with the One who has my life already planned.  Yes, it's great to set goals for yourself. I think the most successful people are those who set goals...they seem to accomplish more because they know where they're headed.  It's okay to decide what you want, but it's best to talk to God about your plans.  Proverbs 19:21 says "Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails."

Father, I thank You for this day and for the plans that You have for me. I know they are plans to prosper me and not to harm me. Plans for a hope and a future. Help me to remember to call on You when I make plans of my own. I want my plans to be what You would have me to do. Only then will I be successful. I love You. Amen and amen.

Need a Tissue?

We went to Hobby Lobby the other day and I happened to find a display of travel tissues. When I saw this pack made of sage and chocolate colors, I knew exactly what to do with them! The "To the Nines" specialty cardstock from SU! is a perfect match!! That cardstock makes everything look elegant...even tissue. I used Julie Ebersole's template to make this cover. I'll see if I can find a link for it.

The Power of the Word...

“Open your ears to the words of his mouth.” Jeremiah 9:20

“When you received the word of God…from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is…the word of God.” 1Thessalonians 2:13

“They were astonished at His teaching, for His word was with authority…they were all amazed …saying, ‘What a word this is! For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out.” Luke 4:32-36

“By God’s word the heavens existed and the earth was formed.” 2Peter 3:5

“My word…will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11

“The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.” John 6:63

When listening to or reading God's Word, accept it as God's Word...not man's. It's authoritative...Jesus spoke with authority and power. We share the power of the Word. Stand on it! God's Word is creative...with His Word he spoke the world into existence. God's Word is does not return void, but accomplishes its purpose. God's Word is the breath of life...immerse yourself in it. It's life-changing!

Father, thank You for this day and I thank You for the power of Your Word. I thank You that it accomplishes its purpose in the lives of those who believe. I thank You for the changes in me brought about by Your Word. Please forgive me for the times when I should have been reading Your Word, but chose to do other things. I ask You to create in me an increased hunger for Your Word. I love You. Amen and amen.

Baby, It's Cold Outside....NOT!'s anything BUT cold here in South Georgia! I just had to make this little album for our Christmas pictures, though. I's more than a day late...but what can I say? Better late than never.

I have never attempted one of these clear envelope albums. It was pretty easy, and fun. It was kind of nice to do something Christmas-y. I found a tutorial online done by Robyn (check out her blog!), and followed that to make my album.

Cardstock: Sage Shadow, Chocolate Chip

Designer Paper: More Jolly by Golly from "Oh Joy" by Cosmo Cricket

Ink: Chocolate Chip

Stamps: None (the sentiment was cut from the designer paper)

Accessories: clear envelopes, cropodile, Chocolate Chip tafetta ribbon, jumbo eyelets, snowflake punch from Martha Stewart

By the way, I'll be leaving tomorrow morning for the beach. It's our annual "girls only--no boys allowed" beach week. Ladybug is going with us! I'll have tons of pictures to share when I get back. I have enough projects made to keep posting while I'm gone.

“The secret things belong to the Lord.” Deuteronomy 29:29

Sometimes there are no answers to the really tough questions. ruin...jail...suicide...WHY? Those losses can leave us deeply wounded and wondering where God is. No matter where we look, how many questions we ask, how hard we look at the circumstances, who we choose to blame...there are no answers. What could we have done differently to prevent this? We look to God, but it seems as though the heavens are silent....
Here are some Scriptures to remember during those times...and believe me, they will come...: “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us” (Deuteronomy 29:29). When it comes to understanding the whys and wherefores, certains things belong only to God. He can choose to reveal them to us, but oftentimes does not. That's the point at which we must "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding..." (Proverbs 3:5). "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God" (Romans 8:28). He might explain things to us, or He may choose not to. But always, He is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. He sees the whole picture. He has a plan and He's working it out. Our responsibilty is to trust Him.

Father, thank You for this day and for the fact that You see the whole picture. Your plans will be revealed to us as you see fit. We've had so much to deal with over the past few years, Lord, and it seems that it's not over yet. I don't know why you've chosen to have us travel this road, but I trust that Your plan is to prosper us and not to harm us. I love You. Amen and amen.

A Little Someone...

A Little Something for a Little a little crooked...oh, well.... but don't ya just love the sweet baby face? This is for some friends of our daughter who just had a baby girl. The gift card holder features a punch art baby girl made with the wide oval punch and the tiny heart from the 3 hearts punch, both from SU! The measurements are 4 x 11, scored at 4 and 9. The pocket inside to hold the gift card measures 4 x 2-1/2. The designer paper inside (Sweet Always) measures 3-3/4 x 4-3/4. This is based on a gift card holder I saw on Kim Woods' blog Paper Pusher. I couldn't find any dimensions on her blog, so I had to make up my own.

“I will make up to you for the years that the…locust has eaten.” Joel 2:25

When I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior, one of the things that I did constantly was fret over the things in my life that I had failed to do. "If I could only go back and do it over, I'd..." I could have helped, blessed, taught, changed things for the many things. I know God has forgiven me for everything I did and also for what I failed to do. I think we fail more often by things we didn't do than by what we did do. I have so much wasted time to make up for. God's Word promises to make up for the years that the locust has eaten...meaning that if I'm living for Him, serving him wholeheartedly, He will redeem the time that I wasted. I'm so happy that I serve the God of second, third, fourth, fifth.....chances!

Father, I thank You for this beautiful day, and the fact that You continue to give me more chances to "do it right". Thank You for not giving up on me. I love You. Amen and amen.

A Beautiful Way to Say Thanks...

I used Lauren Meader's Timeless Templates Music Makeover for this project. The cardstock is SU!'s specialty paper "To the Nines". It's gorgeous textured paper and quite heavy. It worked out very well with this card holder.
Stamps: God's Beauty (113222) , Organic Grace (111668), and Sincere Salutations (115068)
Paper: Very Vanilla, Always Artichoke, Chocolate Chip
Designer Paper: To the Nines from SU!

Run to Win...

“Run in such a way that you…win.” 1 Corinthians 9:24

The point is...don't give in or give up. How many projects do you have underway at this very moment? If you're like a lot of folks...too many. Many of us start things (just look around my stamp room!), but don't get around to finishing them...and the sad part is that we're okay with that. Complacency is very much a part of human life. The Israelites got used to living in slavery. They were actually angry with Moses when he wanted to set them free. When we get used to living with our problems and hang-ups, we cease to do anything about it. When that happens, the enemy has us exactly where he wants us. He doesn't want us to finish the race.
Are you committed to pursuing God? Wholeheartedly? If so, He will honor your commitment. But, if you’ve grown lukewarm and half-hearted about running the race Paul talks to us about in 1 Corinthians, God wants to help you get back on track and give you back the energy and enthusiasm you once had. His word says, “Return to Me…and I will return to you” (Zechariah 1:3 ). In this Scripture God is saying to us, “Turn around. Come back, you’ll find me where you left me.” Part of our inheritance as children of the King of Kings is a living, breathing, walking, talking relationship with Him. Please don't allow yourself to settle for less.

Father, I thank You for this wonderful day. I ask forgiveness for the complacency in my life. Reenergize me, Lord, and give me back the passion I once had for the race. I want to run to win. I love You. Amen and amen.

Ballerina Girl...

This ballerina was made before I realized I forgot to add her toe shoes.

Everyone has been doing punch animals lately. I decided I wanted to make a ballerina using SU!'s punches. My daughter and I brainstormed and came up with this. I forgot to add the two little ballerina shoes that I punched from the end of a word window punch. I used Pirouette Pink (how appropriate!) and added Dazzling Diamonds to the edge of her tutu. I hand-drew some eyelashes. She doesn't have a mouth, but I think she's cute without one.

I decided to break out my Papertrey Ink Warm Happiness stamp set and make this card using Dawn's tutorial. I did some paper piecing on the coffee cup. The cardstock is Sahara Sand from SU! and the designer paper is from Basic Grey.

Who's First?

"Instead of being motivated by selfish ambition or vanity, each of you should, in humility, be moved to treat one another as more important than yourself."  Philippians 2:3

"Put Yourself First"----I saw this headline on MSN. I was shocked (of course, I shouldn't have  been...).  That is completely contrary to God's Word.   The word humility doesn't mean for you to be a doormat.  Humility or humbleness means to be courteously respectful of others. It is exactly the opposite of selfishness, arrogance, boastfulness, vanity, etc. Instead of  "me first", humility allows you to say "you first".  Humility is the quality that lets us go more than halfway to meet the needs (and even the demands) of others.  Acting with humility does not in any way diminish our own self worth, but it allows us to affirm the self-worth and dignity of others.   I think this scripture is saying that since you already love yourself,  you should love others and put their interests above your own.  No, that's not always easy---as a matter of fact, it downright difficult many times - but it is easier if your focus is on God and you are striving to love Him with your whole heart, soul, mind, and strength.

Father, I thank You for this beautiful day. Lord, I don't always act with humility. I know that Your Word says I should. It's hard not to be selfish, but Lord I want to please You by living according to Your Word. Help me to keep my focus on You, loving You with my whole heart, soul, mind, and strength. That will allow me to live with a humble spirit. I love You. Amen and amen.

Our Little Red Furry Friend...and more!

This Elmo card was inspired by all the various Elmos people have created for cards. I used the Sizzix Circle Scallop from SU!. I put the fold of the paper slightly below the scalloped edge so the card would open without falling apart. My little Ladybug just adores she tried to eat the card. We watch tons of Elmo at our house and my husband and I walk around humming the Elmo's World song or the Sesame Street song. Funny how those things can get into your head!

The next project was one I created based on the box on the front of the Stampin' Success magazine from SU! I cut my "To the Nines" Specialty cardstock from SU! at 12x4 and scored it at 5" and 7". The top corners of the box are rounded with the corner rounder. I used the Top Note die from SU! as the "lid" for the box. I scored it at 1-1/2" from each end, measuring from the point. The little "box" for the inside was cut at 12x1-1/2", scored at 1-1/2", 3-1/2", 7-1/2", 9-1/2". It has no bottom of its own, it just uses the bottom of the main box. These instructions are probably as clear as mud, so if you need further explanation, let me know and I'll try to do better. "Happy Father's Day" is from the All Holidays stamp set by SU! (#1114916).

My Way or the Highway...

“He gave them their request, but sent leanness into their soul.” Psalm 106:15 NKJV

My way or the highway?? Is that how it is? So often we insist on wanting things that God, in His infinite wisdom, is withholding from us. When we continue to beg, plead, and pray for it, sometimes He just says, "ok, have it your way..." We might think that we've been given the greatest gift, yet often it's anything but. There is a reason God withholds things from's for our own good. Yet we think we know what's best for us. The Israelites were the same way. After being brought through the Red Sea and delivered out of slavery, they soon forgot God's provision and lusted after things that God would not provide for them (for their own good). After listening to them over and over again, God gave them what they asked for...but "brought a leanness into their soul"...spiritual leanness. Emptiness. That's what wanting our own way can get us. The lesson to be learned is to wait on God. He sees the big picture. He knows what's best.

Father, I thank You for this day and for Your infinite wisdom that keeps me from things that would bring me harm. Help me to wait on know how hard that is for me. I love You. Amen and amen.
