Chocolate Bunny...

This is the sweetest little Easter basket image! It's from Inky Antics and I purchased it a couple of years ago. It always reminds me of my Easter baskets from childhood. The card is Certainly Celery with Tea Party designer series paper. I colored the image with Prismas.

"Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest."   Matthew 11:28

This time of the year, teachers get very tired. Tired of the stress....tired of the pressure from testing requirements....tired of being tired. We've not had our Spring Break yet, so we're especially tired. CRCT is coming up soon, so the pressure is at its highest point. Jesus Christ promises us that if we will come to Him, He will carry our burdens and provide rest for our weary bodies and souls. We just have to lean on Him. We love it when our little ones want to climb up in our lap and snuggle, resting their head on our chest. That's a picture of what we have with our Heavenly Father. He'd like us to climb on His lap and lay our head on His chest.  What a peaceful rest that must be!

Father, I thank You so much for this beautiful rainy, stormy day. As bad as the weather may get, we need the rain it brings. Lord, so many of us are weary to the point of exhaustion. Please lift us up and carry our burdens. Let us rest on your lap. I love You. Amen and amen.

Pure Heaven...

I don't have any projects to share today...Ladybug spent all weekend with us...from Friday morning to Sunday evening! Stella had dance competition in Orlando, so while she and Grady were gone, we got to keep our little Ladybug. We had the best time with that little sweetheart. She was so good...just smiling, "talking", and playing all weekend. I think Stella was the one who was crying!
My Easter classes are this week, so I'll be super busy getting ready for them. I spent Ladybug's naptimes this weekend getting all my paper cut and scored. My first class is Tuesday. I don't have another one until Saturday, so maybe I'll have a chance to stamp between the two classes.

Let Me Check Your Heart...

"Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life." Proverbs 4:23

When you go to the doctor, for any reason, one of the first things they do is check your heart. If your heart isn't right, there's no point in going any further without some sort of intervention. Without a healthy heart, all the medicine in the world wouldn't do you any good. The heart is the center of life....physically and spiritually. Our heart has to be right with God, or there's no point in going any further.   Jesus said, "Blessed are the pure in heart....".  He doesn't mention anything at all about how smart a person is, or how much bible study they might have done.  He focuses on the heart....Jesus knew the importance of having a right heart. Without a healthy heart, not only is physical death imminent, but a spiritual death as well.

Father, I thank You for this day and for an opportunity to live my life with a heart focused on You. So often I find myself focusing on things of this world instead. Help me today to guard my heart and not allow anything to crowd You out. I love You. Amen and amen.

Top Note Bunny...

I'm sure this has been done before...but I'm sorry I don't have a link or a name for you. I scored my Chocolate Chip Top Note in two places, equal distance from the center. Then I added Sweet Always DSP to the front and back. I used my Nesties to cut out the bunny image (from Stamps by Judith) and make a Regal Rose scalloped mat for the bunny. I covered the bunny with Dazzling Diamonds. The 3 little Hershey Nuggets are covered with strips of Sweet Always DSP. Before attaching the scalloped oval, I adhered the Regal Rose grosgrain ribbon around the Top Note.

Praise Him in the Storm

Casting Crowns--Praise You in the Storm

(watch the video linked above & be blessed!)

"Sometimes He calms the storms in our lives, and sometimes He just rides them with us. But, either way, blessed be the name of the Lord."

"You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness...." (Psalm 91:5-6)

Father, I thank You for this wonderful day You've blessed me with. Thank You that I have nothing to matter what storms I'm faced with in my life, You will either calm them, or ride them with me. I love You. Amen and amen.

Jumpin' in the Jungle...

Ladybug: "Don't you like my Jumpin' Jungle thing-y my daddy bought for me?"

Well.....maybe she can't talk yet....but she does love to jump! She is such a "big girl"....not a baby...don't treat her like a baby....she's a 4-1/2 month old "big girl"....big girls don't lay down and take naps....big girls don't rock....big girls don't like to be held like babies...big girls stand Ladybug is too funny!! She has learned to "talk"....very loudly...and blow wet, slobbery raspberries. She is sooooo serious when she's "talking" to us. She definitely has something important to say....I would bet you it's about her four-legged furry brother who likes to chew up her pacifiers!

Sons of God...

"Those who are led by the spirit are sons of God." Romans 8:14

We are the children of God...with full inheritance rights. We  have been gifted with grace. We should strive to live our lives as such. What blessings await us as members of His eternal family.

Father, I thank You for this day You've blessed me with. I pray that as I go about my daily routines, I would live out the fact that I am Your child...with a matchless inheritance. May others recognize You in me. I love You. Amen and amen.

What's Up, Chick?

Soooo cute! I love "A Good Egg" from Stampin' Up! That little chick just makes me smile. I created a simple little box slider for my Reese's Peanut Butter Egg. I used Certainly Celery, Pirouette Pink, and Certainly Celery Prints DSP. The chick is colored with Barely Banana, Apricot Appeal, and Certainly Celery. I added Dazzling Diamonds to the shell. I will come back this afternoon and add the dimensions for cutting and scoring.

Edited to add dimensions: Cardstock: 5-3/4" x 4", scored at 3/4" on the 4" side and 3/4", 2-3/4", 3-1/2", 5-1/2" on the 5-3/4" side.

Look Up...

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6

We must live a life of dependence upon God, trusting Him....and not our own strength. Acknowledge Him in everything...He promises to lead, guide, and direct us. It's human nature to ask everyone we meet for advice....but in reality, the only one we need advice from is God. He is all-knowing...He sees what is up ahead, where nobody else can. He always directs us in the best way to go.

Father, I thank You for this day. Thank You for another opportunity to live for You. I pray that as I encounter difficulties this week, that I will remember to look up for Your guidance and direction. I love You. Amen and amen.

Spring-y Circle Box...

This little treat box was made from Andrea Walford's tutorial. It was a challenge to make, because I didn't have a circle template. I used my Publisher program to create an 8.5" circle and printed it out to use as my template.

Paper: Real Red, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, Whisper White, Summer Picnic DSP

The Answered Prayer...

“Their cry for help…went up to God.” Exodus 2:23

The Israelites groaned in their slavery...mostly to each other...until things got so bad for them that they looked up and cried out to God. Isn't that just like us? When things aren't going well, we groan and complain to anybody and everybody who will listen.  Instead of complaining, we should be praying...crying out to God. If we will give God a prayer to answer, He will be faithful and just to answer it. Now, it may not be the answer we're looking for....but we can rest assured that it IS the BEST answer. God makes no mistakes.   Jesus said, “My Father will give you whatever you ask in my name… Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete” (John 16:23-24)   What a promise!!!!  Ask away....

Father, I thank You so much for this beautiful day You've blessed me with. Thank You for Your promise to answer our prayers if we would just cry out to You. Jesus told us that whatever we ask in His name, that You will do. What an awesome promise!  Help me to remember to cry out to You whenever I'm tempted to groan and complain to others. You are waiting and willing to answer my prayers. I love You. Amen and amen.

Are You Fit?

“Study to [show yourself] approved unto God, a workman.” 2 Timothy 2:15
I'm probably preaching to the choir today...but this is more for myself than anyone else.  This verse is about exercise....actually, exercising your mind by studying scripture.  Our bodies grow slovenly without adequate exercise; so do our minds.  You may not be like me, but I often find myself in situations where I can't remember what I went into a room for, or remember what I was going to say.   I don't know if there is any research to back it up, but I've heard doctors say that spending hours in front of TV, and avoiding intellectual stimulation make our brain's memory capacity shrink.  It's so easy just to let your mind "go"...sort of "veg out"...but then it's like we've become old before our time.  We need intelligent, thought-provoking conversation; we need to read things that will stretch our brains.  Studying scripture is a great way to promote healthy brain exercise.  Why not spend time in God's Word today?

Father, I thank You for this beautiful day and for reminding me that I should be exercising my brain with Your Word. Help me to make better choices with how I spend my time. I love You. Amen and amen.

Don't you just love this fluffy bunny? It reminds me of a pair of slippers! The image is from Stamps by Judith. I made the treat box using Angie Juda's tutorial. It's very easy to follow. I added some white Fun Flock to the bunny's face....too fun!!

Leave and Cleave...

“Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother.” Genesis 2:24

I had such a hard time when my children left home, especially when the first one left. As a parent, I felt like I wasn't needed anymore...and for a period of a few years, those feelings remained. Now that my children are older and we've been blessed with a beautiful granddaughter, God has filled up those empty places in my heart with a sweet little girl who needs her Granny. God is giving me the opportunity to pass on a heritage of faith to teach her to love my Jesus. We don't always understand God's plans and purposes for us, but we can be assured that they are all for good.

Father, I thank You for waking me up on this beautiful day. Thank You for the two children You've blessed me with and for the gorgeous, sweet little granddaughter that fills my heart with joy. There was a time when I didn't think I would feel needed anymore, but that feeling has been replaced with an opportunity to teach my sweetie about my Savior. Please help me to train her up in the way that she should go. I love You. Amen and amen.

Got Your Armor On?

"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God." Ephesians 6:12-17

The armor of God...don't leave home without it! Today, more than ever, it's important to protect ourselves daily against the powers of darkness.

Father, I thank You for this beautiful day. Thank You for waking me up today and giving me another opportunity to be salt and light in this world of darkness. I love You. Amen and amen.

The Evolution of "Playing School"...

I received an email from my sister Sue, entitled "Does Clara Have Teachers for Aunts, or What?". It was accompanied by this picture from my little niece Clara's "play school" Sunday afternoon. Teachers living in my area will recognize the Essential Questions! Playing school has certainly evolved, per Sue!

Daily Rules....

Daily Rules from God for 2009
1. Wake Up!!
Decide to have a good day. 'Today is the day the Lord hath made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.' Psalms 118:24

2. Dress Up!! The best way to dress up is to put on a smile. A smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks. 'The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at outward appearance; but the Lord looks at the heart.' I Samuel 16:7

3. Shut Up!! Say nice things and learn to listen. God gave us two ears and one mouth, so He must have meant for us to do twice as much listening as talking. 'He who guards his lips guards his soul.' Proverbs 13:3

4. Stand Up!!...
For what you believe in. Stand for something or you will fall for anything.. 'Let us not be weary in doing good; for at the proper time, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good...' Galatians 6:9-10

5. Look Up!!... To the Lord.
'I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me.' Phillippians 4:13

6. Reach Up!!...
For something higher. 'Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, And He will direct your path.'
Proverbs 3:5-6

7. Lift Up!!... Your Prayers.
'Do not worry about anything; instead PRAY ABOUT EVERYTHING.'
Philippians 4:6

A very sweet friend of mine sent this to me today and I thought it was too nice not to share.

Father, I thank You for this wonderful day You've given me and for friends and family. You always provide exactly what I need, so often before the need has ever been voiced. Lord, I lift to you each person reading this today and ask that You bless them. Help me to be the person that You've called me to be and to be a blessing to someone today. I love You, Lord. Amen and amen.

I was in Walgreen's yesterday, browsing the Easter candy aisle, and happened upon some Swankie Hankies for Easter. They are the cutest things! I remembered that I had seen a pattern for a kleenex cover from Julie Ebersole on Splitcoast, so I dug through my files and found the directions. It was super easy to make and I think it turned out cute. The large opening on the back was not in Julie's pattern, but I used my 1-3/4" circle punch to create the opening so the bunny's face could be seen. Isn't he precious? I'll come back this afternoon and put a link to her pattern. Gotta run!!

Edited to add link to Julie's pattern.

It's All Good....

"As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good..." Genesis 50:20

All you have to do is look around you....listen to others speak...pick up a newspaper...turn on the television...and more than likely there are many references to the dismal situation of our country. There is hope, though. God can take whatever situation we find ourselves in and use it for good. If you like to read, pick up a biography of one of the most interesting and inspiring men...George Muller. Muller said, “In a thousand trials it’s not just five hundred that work for our good, but nine hundred and ninety-nine – plus one!” Muller was a man of God whose greatest undertaking was forming and maintaining the great orphanages at Bristol, England. He started his first orphanage with only two shillings (50 cents) in his pocket. He was a tremendous man of prayer, never making his needs known to humans...only to God...and believing that He would provide for their every need. Muller received the means necessary to house and feed the orphans day by day for sixty years. In all that time, the children never missed a meal. Mr. Muller said that if they ever had to go without a meal he would take it to mean that God did not want him to continue the work. The Scripture, “...God meant it for good,” means that nothing can keep Him from turning whatever happens into something worthwhile...something good....something that will accomplish His purposes. Knowing that God forgives my past, knows my present and has planned my future, gives me the confidence that nothing can happen to me that God cannot use for good.

Father, I thank You for this day and the promise that all things work for good. You can take any matter how dismal it might seem....and use it for good. Father, that gives me a confidence knowing that nothing is ever going to happen to me that You cannot use to further Your kingdom. People may plan to harm, but You can turn it into something good. I love You. Amen and amen.

Silly Granny, Tigers Don't Have Spots....

Isn't she precious?!!! That's my beautiful Ladybug...with her "best friend", Tiger/Leopard. If Leighton could talk, she would tell you that her Mama and Granny obviously didn't know the difference between a tiger and a leopard, because this friend started out simply as "Tiger". Months later, it dawned on Granny that tigers don't have spots. So now, it's Tiger/Leopard.
