Sweet Cupcake Notepad...

This new designer series paper from Stampin' Up! is perfect for cupcake images...very sweet! I used the same tutorial for this notepad holder as the one I posted earlier. Sorry for the short post, but I'm not at home, and kind of out of my element. My husband had angioplasty yesterday on his leg, which went very well, but we found out that he has to have surgery on his right carotid artery at the end of October. What else???

He Is Our Guide...

"For this God is our God for ever and ever: He will be our guide even unto death." Psalm 48:14

That is a comforting thought...God will be with us, even unto death. Death seems so lonely, but we'll not be alone. God is there to guide our every step. Fear not.

Father, I thank You for this day. I thank You that although the report we received from the doctor yesterday was not what we expected, we know that You alone are sovereign. You know the plans You have for us, and they are plans to prosper us and not to harm us. Plans to give us hope and a future. We will call on You, and pray to You, and You will listen to us. You will hear our prayers, and answer us. You are always there to guide us, and will be with us forever, even unto death. I thank You, Father, because it could have been so much worse. I love You. Amen and amen.

Merry & Bright, Revisited....

I just got the Tree for all Seasons stamp set from SU! and decided to go ahead and use it. I visited Dawn's Stamping Thoughts and saw a tutorial for this card. I used different colors, though. Strange combo...Soft Sky, Kiwi Kiss, Riding Hood Red, and Black. I'm not sure I like the combo, but it's different. The black really makes the colors pop. I could have used Dawn's colors, but I wanted to try it with some of the new colors.

Rich or Poor...

“He who has a slack hand becomes poor, But the hand of the diligent makes rich.” Proverbs 10:4

Idle hands are the devil's workshop, I've always heard. God's Word rings true in that statement. Diligence is the on the path to success.

Father, I thank You for this day and another opportunity to work diligently with my hands. I pray that whatever my hands find to do, that You would approve of, and be proud of me and of what I do. Lord, I don't want to be slack, and I have a tendency to be that way sometimes. Please keep me on the path of diligence. I love You. Amen and amen.

He's Listening...

“The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry. Psalm 34:15

How comforting to know that His eyes are always upon us and His ears are open to hear us. God is only a whisper away. All we have to do is call on Him.

Father, I thank You for this beautiful Sunday...this is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it. Your Word promises that Your eyes are upon the righteous and Your ears are open to their cry. Father, my heart's cry to You today is that I would be counted among the righteous...the faithful...the remnant. Lord, You know my heart, and You know how much I long for You. I love You. Amen and amen.

Trick or Treat, Smell My Feet...

...Give Me Something Good to Eat! That used to be so funny. When you're a kid, a lot of stuff is funny...you pretty much laugh at everything! I am in love with this little box! It turned out just as I envisioned it. I pictured the Halloween stuff we used to have as decorations when I was little. I wanted the box to look like it was left over from that time period. I used Kiwi Kiss paper cut at 6x9...scored at 1" and 5" on the 6" side, and 4" and 5" on the 9" side. Then I cut designer paper from Imaginesce at 3-5/8" x 3-3/4" for front and back. The sides were matted with Tangerine Tango cut at 3/4" x 3-5/8". To make the box look like a relic from some Halloween ages ago, I sponged the edges with Creamy Caramel. The edges of everything got sponged. I even sponged the ribbon because it looked too "new" to go with this box. If you'll notice, there are "age spots" on the ovals. That was done by pressing and pouncing my round SU! sponge onto the paper. I crinkled some cardstock in the crimper and cut it in very thin strips to use as box filler. The stamp set was Spooky Sweets II from Papertrey Ink. The oval punch for the "trick or treat" sentiment is the new large oval from SU! The scallop oval is from a Marvy Giga Punch (the pink one). The tiny little oval in the bottom corner is an Emagination punch from a bajillion years ago.

I missed posting this morning. I had a Christmas Class at my house beginning at 9:30, so there was no time! I have a Halloween class coming up on the 11th, so between now and then I'll be busily working on Halloween projects.

Richard and I are leaving for Savannah tomorrow after church. He is scheduled for angioplasty (on his leg) on Monday, and then a stress test on Tuesday. We'll be back Tuesday afternoon sometime. I am planning to schedule some posts for while I'm gone.

Take a Note....

Don't you love the Bella Rose paper? I do! And that Kiwi Kiss....awesome color! This little covered notepad (tutorial from Cindy Lyles at Starlit Studio) was made, of course, with Bella Rose. I used the Kiwi Kiss striped grosgrain and my Just Rite monogram stamp.

Scaredy Cat...

“Do not be afraid of sudden terror, Nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes; For the Lord will be your confidence, And will keep your foot from being caught.” Proverbs 3:25-26

Do you ever wake up at night with a sudden feeling of terror, your heart pounding in your chest? Maybe it’s just me, but when that happens, the only way I can get back to sleep is just to start praying and reciting all the scripture I know. Eventually, my heart stops pounding, my breathing returns to normal, and I can drift off to sleep. I don’t know why that happens, but I shouldn’t be terrified of anything. The Lord is my confidence.

Father, I thank You for another day, and the end of another work week. Thank You for the weekend! Lord, I know that I don't have to be afraid of anything. You are my confidence. You are my strength. Hide me under Your wing. I love You. Amen and amen.

Merry Christmas, Dear Friend...

This little 4x4 card was made with Whisper White cut at 8x4 and scored at 4. Designer paper from pebblesinc.com cut at 2x4. The beautiful ribbon is from Jody Morrow's website, and I used my lovely new stamp set, Cute and Curly from SU!, along with my brand new curly label punch from SU! I used Dazzling Diamonds on the label.

I'm having a stamping class tonight, so I might not have time to post a project on Friday morning. If I don't, look for one Friday evening. Have a great Thursday!

Listen Up...

"Then you will call to me, but I will not answer. You will look for me, but you will not find me. It is because you rejected knowledge and did not choose to respect the Lord. You did not accept my advice, and you rejected my correction. So you will get what you deserve; you will get what you planned for others. Fools will die because they refuse to listen; they will be destroyed because they do not care. But those who listen to me will live in safety and be at peace, without fear of injury." Proverbs 1:28-33

Wow! If those verses don’t make you sit up and take notice, nothing will. Refusing to listen, rejecting knowledge, and disrespecting the Lord result in a tragic end. But, those who listen will live safely and be at peace. I think I’ll start listening a little better.

Father, I thank You for this beautiful day and the cooler air that greets us in the mornings. I ask You to forgive me for all the times that I refused to listen to You...the times I stubbornly wanted to do things my way. Please don't give up on me. I want to listen more closely to You. Help me to hear with my heart, mind, and soul. I love You. Amen and amen.

A Charlie Brown Christmas...

I love this Charlie Brown tree! It reminds me of watching all the Charlie Brown cartoons when I was growing up.

The card begins with an Old Olive base cut at 12x3, scored at 6". I used the 1-3/8" square punch from SU! to punch the front. I used my scallop square punch from SU! as the base layer for mounting the image on the inside. "Sparkle" comes from the Warm Words set by SU! I put sparkly gold accents on the card with my Sakura Gelly Roll pen.

From One Scarred Hand to the Other...

“As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.” Psalm 103:12

What a powerful picture of forgiveness! Every time I read this passage, I am reminded of the picture of Christ’s outstretched arms on the cross at Calvary where He died for my transgressions. It reminds me of the lyrics from a song by Casting Crowns:
“Jesus can you show me
Just how far the East is from the West
Cause I can't bear to see the man I've been
Come rising up in me again
In the arms of your mercy I find rest
Cause you know just how far the East is from the West
From one scarred hand to the other.”

Father, I thank You for the sending Your Precious Son to die on the cross for my sins. If I had been the only one who needed saving, Jesus still would have gone willingly for me. There is no greater love than that. I love You, Lord. Amen and amen.

Two-fer Tuesday...

I just couldn't wait any longer...aren't these deer too cute?!?! I made the Daddy and Mama last night with my purple and pink Marvy giga punches in the square scallop. The baby was made with the new SU! scallop square punch. I put liquid glass on their noses (sorry, there's a little glare), sponged the edges of the card and their antlers with Creamy Caramel, and tied the ribbon on through a slot punch. The antlers were made with Martha Stewart's snowflake punch. "Have a Jolly Holiday" is from the Jolly Holiday set by SU! (retired). I had no idea that I was going to make this card...it just came to me as a flash of inspiration (that doesn't happen very often, so when it does I have to run with it).

Unto You is Born...

"Hey, unto you is born!" Gladys Herdman from The Best Christmas Pageant Ever always comes to mind when I see this verse. Gotta love it!!!! I love this image. It's very simple, but the message it sends is profound (even coming from Gladys Herdman!). The card is in Certainly Celery with Chocolate Chip accents. The image is from the new Season of Simple Grace stamp set in the SU! catalog.

Heal Me...

“Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; Save me, and I shall be saved, For You are my praise.” Jeremiah 17:14

All healing comes from the Lord our God whether it is healing of the heart, mind, or body. Our Lord is the only One who saves. Nobody can snatch us from His hand.

Father, I thank You for my salvation. I’m so thankful that no matter what I might do in this life, nobody can snatch me from Your hand. I am Yours. Father, I ask You today for healing of the heart, mind, and body for all who are in need of it. You alone can provide. I love You. Amen and amen.

True Blue Snow Friend...

Thank you to all my friends who have called or written to check up on me! I appreciate your concern. Nothing is wrong other than being tooooooooo busy!!! I've been working on cards for a Christmas class, making baby shower hostess gifts (21!), attending a baby shower, working on stuff for school, etc., and just ran out of hours in the day to get my posting done. I've been so tired and got up an hour later this morning, so didn't even have time for my devotion. Hopefully, things will slow down a little now.

This is one of our Christmas class cards. It's simple, but sometimes the simplest ones are the sweetest. I love snowmen, and this one is no exception. He's done with Soft Sky and Blue Bayou, Soft Sky DSP, Soft Sky ribbon, and Dazzling Diamonds. "Let's Celebrate" is from the Family Phrases stamp set in the SU! catalog. The snowman is from Festive Four by SU! To tie on the ribbon, I used the slot punch to make an opening and threaded the ribbon through. The card measures 5x5.

You Know Me...

“But You, O Lord, know me; You have seen me, And You have tested my heart toward You.” Jeremiah 12:3

The Lord our God knows each one of us, inside and out. No matter what we might hide from others, we can’t hide it from God.

Father, You know me. Nothing I do or think is hidden from You. Lord, I know that I am not worthy of anything You have done for me, but I pray that I might be found faithful when You test my heart. I love You. Amen and amen.

Sue's Mummy...

Aren't these the cutest?!!!! My "baby" sister Sue (my sweet little Clara's ----the future stamper's----mom) sent me an email yesterday with this picture. I thought her project was just awesome! Sue is just getting into stamping, but she obviously has natural talent. I asked her to send instructions, and this is her email: "I just cut the paper bag in half, took white card stock and cut it in about 1 - 1 1/4" strips (then I cut the strips so they'd fit across the bag) and sponged the edges with creamy caramel; I glued the strips across the front and back of the bag (kind of askew), saving the top piece until I had the eyes where I wanted them. I put a thin piece of cardboard that I cut to fit on the bottom inside of the bag to give it stability. I used some extra burnt orange scrap paper to do the eyes and glued them on, then the googly eyes.

I used some orange paper from the basic brights card stock to do the orange handle, and glued a thinner piece of black card stock on top of that. I don't have any eyelets, so I had to just punch holes in the top sides of the bag and the ends of the handle; I connected them to the bag with satin black ribbon with white polka dots. I put shredded kraft filler inside, along with some candy.

I folded the "bottom" of the other half of the bag and stapled it; punched a hole at the top and strung the same ribbon through with a Batty for You scalloped tag (orange card stock from basic brights).

These were very spur of the moment, and could have been MUCH cuter with more planning, more supplies and without Sam constantly grabbing for the punch, scissors and glue!"

Awesome job, Sue! Love it, love it, love it!!

The One and Only....

"The Lord our God is the One Lord." Deuteronomy 6:4

Back in Old Testament time, the heathens had gods for everything. So, the Israelites made a big deal about our Lord God being the One Lord. Maybe in today's world people don't worship the sun god, and the fertility god, and so on, but there are still many who don't worship the One God. Even those who profess to worship the One True God oftentimes also worship other things, like money or power.

Father, thank You for this day. Thank You for loving me and always being with me. You are the One True God. Lord, there are times when I put other things ahead of You. Please forgive me for that. You are the only One who matters. I love You. Amen and amen.

I Want My Mummy....

This was so much fun to make! I used Angie's KitKat holder tutorial and fixed my holder up with some mummy wrap made with Very Vanilla sponged with Creamy Caramel and then roughed up the edges of the strips. The inspiration for the mummy came from a precious card we made at stamp club tonight. It was CASE'd from Dannie's Designs.

On The Tip of My Tongue...

"She opens her mouth in skillful and godly Wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness." Proverbs 31:26

If we want to be used by God, we have to watch the words that come forth from our mouths. The words we say can either be words of life or words of death. If we want God's power to flow through us to others, then we have to relinquish our mouths to Him. There are so many times when I've said things that I wish I could have taken back. There are so many times when what I've said needed to be said, but maybe not in the tone or with the attitude that it was said.

Father, thank You for this wonderful Friday. Thank You for another upcoming opportunity to rest after a weary week. Lord, I'm sorry for the words of death that have been spoken by this mouth of mine. I'm sorry, Lord, for the way that I have said some of the things I've said. I ask You to put Your hand over my mouth when You know I'm about to say something that I need to just keep to myself. If I can't say something kind, please help me not to say anything at all. I love You. Amen and amen.

Merry & Bright...

This is my first attempt at using the Take a Bough stamp set from Papertrey Ink. It's going to take a little practice on my part to get everything to line up as it should. You probably can't see it, but I used glitter pen on the ornaments.

His Way is Best...

"For who has known the mind of the Lord and who has understood His thoughts, or who has been His counselor?" Romans 11:34

So often we try to do things our way. But, God's way is always best. He can see the end...we can't. Oftentimes we think we need to tell God what to do. God doesn't need our help. When things happen that don't make sense to us, we have to trust God.

Father, I thank You for this day. Lord, I don't always understand Your ways. But, I know that Your ways are higher than my ways. Your ways are always right. Help me to trust in You for my every step. I love You. Amen and amen.

Dashing Pocket Card...

This pocket card begins with a piece of Real Red cardstock cut at 10-7/8 x 5-9/16...scored at 3-5/8 and 7-1/4. The two outside sections are cut on the diagonal from the score line to the bottom outside corner. I cut some Dashing designer paper and scalloped the edges with the SU! scallop edge punch. My card insert measures 3-1/2 x 5-9/16 (Old Olive) layered with Whisper White cut to 3-1/4 x 4-3/4. The card was finished off by wrapping it with Real Red 5/8" grosgrain.

Food for Thought...

"You may freely eat of every tree in the garden." Genesis 2:16

God gave Adam and Eve specific instructions about their eating habits. I've been wondering a lot lately about the foods that we eat. It seems like every day we receive some email at school telling us about a food that has been pulled from the market because it's contaminated with something. I'm beginning to think that nothing is safe unless you grow it yourself! Almost everything we eat these days has been processed in some form or another. I don't think that was God's intention for His creation. God didn't give Adam and Eve pizza, hamburgers, doughnuts, candy, Cokes, etc. I wonder if maybe we stuck to God's plan of eating, we wouldn't have all the health problems we have today. It's food for thought!

Father, thank You for this day You've given me to celebrate life and love and the joy of knowing You. Lord, help me to look more closely at the things I choose to eat. When I eat, I want to eat in such a way that honors You. Abusing my body with foods that are not good for me certainly does not honor this temple. Forgive me for the abuse I've put my body through all these years. I am fearfully and wonderfully made, and I want to stay that way. I love You, Lord. Amen and amen.

Approval Addiction...

"Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ." Galatians 1:10

Why do we do what we do? Is it for the approval of others, or is it for God's approval? I'm afraid that my answer to that question would not be the one that I would be proud of, most of the time. It's hard not to do things to win the approval of others. I think it's called Approval Addiction. Joyce Meyer wrote a book about it. I have the book...but apparently I haven't read it yet! God's Word tells us not to do good deeds to be seen of men. God is not impressed with that. He wants a sincere heart, wholly devoted to Him. Any works done with an impure heart will be burned up on Judgment Day.

Father, I thank You for this day. I ask You to forgive me for the things that I have done while seeking the approval of others. Father, forgive me for not putting Your approval first and foremost in my life. Help me to remember that You are the only One whose opinion matters. I love You, Lord. Amen and amen.

Sweet Baby Girl...

I'm so excited! My daughter's due date is getting closer and closer...November 19th! I'm making invitations for one of her baby showers. Isn't this adorable? The colors are the same as the colors in her nursery. She chose Wendy Bellissimo's Pink Swirl....Pink Pirouette and Creamy Caramel match perfectly! I used Lauren Meader's tutorial to make my card.

It's All Black and White...

I don't usually think "black and white" when it comes to Christmas, but this little card changed my mind. I like how it turned out. I Cuttlebugged the Whisper White card front (5-1/2" x 4-1/4"). Then I added a strip of Basic Black cut at 3-1/4"x 1-1/2". To the black piece, I added the snowman strip from Festive Favorites stamp set by SU!. I used the Joy tag punch from Terrific Tags by SU!, and layered it on a Basic Black tag. I used my two tag punches from SU! Then I added a strip of black gingham 1/4" ribbon around the card and a small piece attached with a black brad to the Joy tag. To get the ribbon to go around the card front, I punch the tiniest little slit right along the fold of the card for the ribbon to slip through. Finally, I added some white glitter (generic) for snow. We'll be making this card at my next Christmas class.
