Passionate Cries...

"Now they came to Jericho. As He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the road begging. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, 'Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!' Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, 'Son of David, have mercy on me!' So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called." Mark 10: 46-49

Bartimaeus's cries offended the people around him, who thought Jesus would be offended by his cries. Bartimaeus didn't care what the people around him thought. He just cried out all the more. Is my heart hungry enough for a touch from Jesus? Would I care if I offended others with my cries for Him? Would I be offended if others in my presence cried out for Him? Sometimes I wonder what it would be like in church, on any given Sunday, if the service was led by the heartfelt cries of the people for a touch from the Master's hand. Or, are we bound by the order of the service...and a visit from Him doesn't fit into our schedule? We might not be first in line at the Golden Corral! Oh my!

God, I pray today that You give me a heart that is white hot for You. I want to be able to cry out to You, regardless of who else is around, and not care if I offend anyone. Lord, please don't let me be one of those who are offended when others cry out for You. Lord, I feel such conviction by this message. I have been both a Bartimaeus and one of the crowd. I'd much rather be Bartimaeus! Praise You, Lord! Thank You for what I know You have planned for my heart and life. I love You. Amen and amen.
