Little Gingers...

Run, run, as fast as you can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Man! When I came home from work, Richard was in my stamp room, on the laptop. I accused him of spending the afternoon stamping! He gave me a look that said otherwise. Actually, he was looking for a new tractor. Anyway, I had to work around him to get this little bag made. In spite of the inconveniences, I think it turned out really cute.

I used the new Deer Friends stamp set from Stampin' Up! Actually, everything was Stampin' Up!, except the ribbon, brad, and paper bag.

Creepy Crawly...

This is my first attempt at making a diorama card. It's kind of a cross between a suspension card and a diorama. Maybe I'll call it a suspend-o-rama! I used the Booglie Eyes set from Stampin' Up! Gotta love it!! Those images are too cute. I also used the pumpkin from Sweeter Treaters. The card is made using Pumpkin Pie, Lovely Lilac, and Whisper White cardstock, black Staz-on ink, Nestabilities, Tag Punches, 1-1/4" circle punch. Oh, and don't forget the googlie eyes...or should I say booglie eyes. Enjoy!

Go Where?

"Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: 'Whom shall I send, And who will go for us?' Then I said, 'Here am I! Send me.' " Isaiah 6: 8

Isaiah didn't say, "Well....Lord....I would, but...." That sounds more like what I would say. It's hard to leave our comfort zones. I'm not just talking about leaving our homes and going off to the other side of the world. I mean that sometimes it's not very comfortable to leave our seat and go speak to another person who may need a word from God. But....that person is all the way over there on the other side of the room...somebody over there will speak to them. Maybe God didn't call someone over on the other side of the room. Maybe I'm the only one He called. Sometimes I get so complacent that I forget God has called ME to be His voice and His hands.

Father, I thank You for the wonderful rain You sent us last night. You always provide exactly what we need. Lord, as I read this passage in Isaiah, I'm reminded that You have called me to reach out to others...even out of my comfort zone. Isaiah didn't question You when You called him to go. Lord, help me be like Isaiah in service to You. Help me to never forget that if someone had not reached out and spoken to me 10 years ago, I might still be lost. Give me a boldness to be Your voice. I love You. Amen and amen.

Hold My Hand...

"Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid..." Isaiah 12:2

I'm a scaredy-cat. I can't walk through my dark house at night without being afraid. And don't even ask me to to go outside in the dark! If I have to go outside, maybe to take Daisy out, I make Richard stand at the door and watch. If he's not there, I turn all the lights on before I go out. I don't really think it's the dark itself that bothers me...I don't mind being in a dark room. I think it's the fear of the unknown. Throughout God's Word we are told not to be afraid. Isaiah 41:10 "Fear not, for I am with you..." and Isaiah 35:4, "Be strong, do not fear!" are just two more examples. Why am I afraid? I don't have to be. God IS my salvation, and I have nothing to fear. Yet, still...Maybe it's the fear of the unknown in THIS world...I don't think I'm afraid of what is beyond the grave. In my heart I know that I have nothing to's the skin on the outside that has the goosebumps!

Father, I thank You for this glorious day in Christ. Your Word tells me again and again not to be afraid. In my heart, Lord, I do trust You. Deep in my heart, I'm not afraid of the unknown beyond this world. I guess it's the evil we are surrounded with on Earth that scares me so much. Hold my hand, Father, and I won't be afraid. In times when I'm alone, in the scary darkness, let me feel Your presence surround me. With You as my Shield, nothing would dare come against me. I love You. Amen and amen.

Mints, Anyone?

Ok. So, I'm still stuck on this paper. I can't help it. This time it's an altered Altoids tin. It holds 2 Peppermint Patties or 4 (maybe more) Nuggets. I've tried Altoids tins before, but they never turned out the way I envisioned them. I'm not thrilled with this one, but it's way better than the others that, in the past, wound up in the scrap heap. I can't promise that this is the last time you'll see this paper, 'cause I may have another weak moment, but I'm going to try to move on. Enjoy! Have a Terrific Tuesday!!

Gardening 101...

"I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit...I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing." John 15: 1-2, 5

The Master Gardener...that's what He is. I was looking through my garden and saw the perfect example of this principle. We have a bunch of pumpkins growing throughout the garden, trailing through the squash, and beans, and climbing up the cornstalks. In the middle of it all, there is a small pumpkin...rotten to the core. I wondered why, since the rest of them are beautiful. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that somehow the pumpkin had lost its connection with the vine. That's how it is with us, I think. When we lose our connection with the Vine, we wither and eventually die...a spiritual, if not physical, death. One way we lose that connection is by failing to keep the lines of communication open...our prayer life flounders, or is nonexistent. I am the first one to admit that I'm a flounder-er. I really try very hard to be consistent in my prayer life...this blog really helps me to stay focused on it...but sometimes other things crowd it out. I tend to want to blame it on this or that, but the truth of the matter is, it's always a choice that I make. I'm ashamed to say that I don't always make the right choice. I think God understands that. He made me, and He knows me inside and out. He knows my heart, so He knows that I mean well, but still mess up, and when (not if) I do, He loves me just the same. I can't help but think that it must make him sad, though...and that hurts me.

Father, You are the Master Gardener. You do all things well. When one of Your children loses their connection with You, it must break Your heart. Father, I know that I need pruning very often, and it's painful. Yet, I thank You for it. I know that I am being changed to be more like Jesus. Prune away. I love You, Lord. Thank You. Amen and amen.

Blue, Blue Christmas...

Good morning! I made this matching set using Dawn's video tutorial from yesterday. I used the new Holiday Happenings designer paper from Stampin' Up! I didn't preorder the new Baja Breeze color, so I had to make do with Blue Bayou. It complements the paper very well, I think. I also didn't have the Baja Blue ink, nor the Blue Bayou, I used Soft Sky. I think they blend pretty well together.

A Good Word...

"Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, But a good word makes it glad." Proverbs 12:25

Everybody needs to hear a good word now and then. It does a body good! God's Word also tells us to be anxious for nothing (Phil 4:6). Great advice. I was talking to a friend yesterday about the number of people who take antidepressants. I know very few teachers who don't take some sort of antidepressant. That's really sad. Teachers certainly don't get paid what they're worth, so a good word to a teacher always makes her heart glad. I know...been there, done that. Still doing that. I didn't mean for this to turn into an essay about teachers, but they make a good illustration for this principle. Everyone does something well. Look for the good in someone today, and tell them about it. It will make their heart sing.

Father, I thank You for this day and for another opportunity to bless someone else as I seek to do Your will. Father, I thank You for the many blogging friends I've met who have blessed my life with their precious affirmations. It does make me feel good, Lord, and I pray that I would be such a blessing to others. How easy it is to give a good word to someone, yet so often we're in such a rush that we don't take the time. Lord, I believe that You bless us as we bless others. I pray that this blog would be a blessing to whomever reads it. Everyone who comes to this site, everyone I come in contact with throughout the day, is in need of a touch from You...a blessing. Let me be Your hands, Your heart, and Your voice. I love You, Lord. Thank You for loving me. Amen and amen.

Thanks, "Teach"!

Have you thanked a teacher today? Take it from this teacher, yours would love to have one of these post-it holders. I used some unknown chalkboard paper, black cardstock, Whisper White, Chartreuse Palette Hybrid ink, and ribbons to create this cutie. Oh, I can't forget my wonderful Bind-it-All! This was super simple and only took about 15 minutes to make.

Got Prayer?

"Moreover,as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you..." 1 Samuel 12:23

How's your prayer life? I ashamed to say that sometimes mine is not very good. I sincerely try to pray faithfully every morning. Sometimes, though, I don't. My day is usually rotten when I don't. My day just doesn't feel right. Prayer is a direct line to God, and according to His Word, if I don't pray for others, it is a sin. Prayer links our nothingness with His Almightiness. Failing to pray is sin. Some of the greatest sins are sins of omission, not commission. In other words, most often it's what I don't do that's a sin. As a parent, it makes me sad when I don't talk to my children every day. I wonder how God feels when we don't talk to Him. Prayer is so important, and as a mother, I know that my first and foremost responsibility is to pray for my family. We have no comprehension of what goes on in the Heavenlies when we pray...what kind of doors are opened, souls saved, illnesses healed, and so on. As for me, I'm making a renewed commitment to prayer today.

Father, I thank You so much for the glorious abundance of rain You blessed us with last night. It's such a welcomed and much needed gift. You always provide us with exactly what we need. Father, as I think about prayer, I cannot imagine how it makes You feel when Your children don't want to talk to You. Please forgive me for the times that I haven't come before You in prayer. I'm making a renewed commitment today, Lord, to spend time with You each and every day. I ask You to help me with this. Give me a hunger for it, and a gentle reminder when I forget. I love You. Amen and amen.

Blessings in Disguise...

"But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive." Genesis 50: 20

This is Joseph's statement to his brothers...the brothers who had sold him into slavery, yet reported him dead to their father. Yeah, that would certainly be counted as evil in my book. I would not have been very nice about it, if I had been Joseph. Yet, Joseph told his brothers not to be afraid, then he comforted them and spoke kindly to them. That is a picture of what God would have each one of us do when faced with people who had tried to destroy us with evil. We have to trust God. His Word clearly says that He can take what was meant for evil and use it for good. Imagine how that would make an enemy feel...having the evil they'd done to you, turned around into something good...blessings in disguise!

Father, I thank You for this beautiful day, and another opportunity to love and serve You by loving and serving others. I thank You, Lord, that I have nothing to fear when others try to destroy me. You can take what they meant for evil and turn it into blessings for me. Praise You! I love You. Amen and amen.

I just love how this little double-pocket card turned out. The sweet image on the cover, as well as the sentiments on the cards inside, are by Tammy DeYoung for Inky Antics. I colored the cover image with my Prismas and Gamsol. I also used the new Stampin' Up! designer series paper, Holiday Happenings.

The Keys...

"Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death." Revelation 1:17-18

How often has God told us to fear not in His Word? Again, we are not to be afraid. He is alive forevermore. Satan no longer holds the keys, nor any longer has power or authority. Satan's only power is in deception. He's the Father of Lies. The only power he has over us is the power we allow him to have by believing his deception. How do we discern between truth and deception? God's Word says that satan comes as a messenger of light...he's a shape-shifter...he makes himself into whatever it takes to lure us in to his deception. Then, he steals, kills, and destroys. But, God also says, 'ask and you shall receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened unto you'. We must ask God for wisdom and discernment. He will gladly give it.

Father, I thank You for this day you've blessed me with. I thank You for taking back the keys from satan. I no longer have to fear separation from You. Jesus has paid the price for me. Hallelujah! God, this is a mixed-up world we live in, where sin has been accepted as the norm, and the influences of the devil can be seen all around us. I ask You today for wisdom and discernment to know when I am faced with the devil's deception. Keep my loved ones safe from the wiles of the devil, as well. Thank You, Father, for I know that You have heard my prayer. I love You. Amen and amen.

Who Do You Trust?

"Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the Lord our God." Psalm 20:7

This verse is stating the fact that God is greater than any army. No matter how many "chariots or horses" come against us, God is greater. I know people whose entire faith is wrapped up in material things...their trust is in their money, or power (real or perceived). God has a way of showing Himself greater than any of them. Sooner or later they will know that God is above all power.

Father, I thank You that I don't have to trust in what I have on this earth. Lord, if I had to depend on my worldly possessions to save me, I would be doomed. My trust is in You, and You are far greater than the greatest or most powerful thing on this earth. How could anyone doubt that? Help me, God, to never forget my source of power. I love You. Amen and amen.
