It's not Christmas yet...but it'll be here before you know it. In the meantime, I've been working on Christmas cards for my Christmas in July class. I wanted to post the pictures, but Blogger is having some issues with uploads. I'll try again later. I used the Fresh Cuts notecards to create a Poinsettia card. I also tried stamping on acetate....lime acetate....with a pink snowman! Soooooo cute!! Check back later for pics.

***Update: The Blogger problem has been fixed, so enjoy the pics!

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly...

"The Lord upholds all who fall, And raises up all who are bowed down. The eyes of all look expectantly to You, And You give them their food in due season. You open Your hand And satisfy the desire of every living thing. The Lord is righteous in all His ways, Gracious in all His works. The Lord is near to all who call upon Him. To all who call upon Him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He also will hear their cry and save them. The Lord preserves all who love Him. But all the wicked He will destroy. My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord, And all flesh shall bless His holy name Forever and ever." Psalm 145:14-21

These verses are such an encouragement. We look expectantly to God, bringing before Him all our wants, needs, and desires. He loves each and every one of us. The good, the bad, and the ugly. The bad? Yes, even the bad. He loves us, but He does not love some of the things we do. Yet, no matter who we are, when we cry out to Him, He hears our cry and will fill our mouths as He sees fit. Not necessarily when we want it...we tend to want everything least I do. The second part of these verses is also an encouragement to me. "...But all the wicked He will destroy...". Anyone with half a heart is grieved when watching the news on television. The two girls shot and used as target practice...the wife apparently murdered by her husband on their honeymoon...child abductions...random killings...the Zodiac much more can this world take? Our comfort lies in knowing that God sees all, and all will answer for their actions. The wicked He will destroy. It may not be on our time schedule. It may not even be in our lifetime, but we can rest assured in knowing that each one will answer to God in the end.

I praise You, God, for seeing all things as they are. People can fool others, but no one can fool You. Each person will have to answer to You in the end. I ask You, Lord, to have mercy on the victims of crime, and their families. Give them comfort in Your Word. Surround them with people who love them...people who will share Your Word with them. Help us Christians to be an encouragement to those in need. I love You. Amen and amen.

"Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him." Job 13:15

Back in those days, people believed that the awesomeness of God's presence would overwhelm any person to the point of death. A person could not have a personal encounter with God and live. But in the situation Job was in, he didn't care. He needed to see God and have a discussion with Him. I believe that this message, for us today, means no matter what we encounter in life, our trust must be in God...even to the point of death.

Lord, my life is Yours, and I will be steadfast and continue on my journey to Your matter what I may encounter. Though You slay me, yet will I trust You. I love You, Lord. Amen and amen.

Man's Woman's Best Friend...

My daughter lost her two fur babies...Buster and Catfish...both within a couple months of each other (one was run over and the other was snakebit). Today she came over and we worked on a memorial scrapbook for them. It was her first scrapbook, and she did 99% of it herself. I think she did a fantastic job! Buster and Cat would be so proud of their Mommy!

Humpty Dumpty Sat On a Wall...

"For You will light my lamp; The Lord my God will enlighten my darkness. For by You I can run against a troop, By my God I can leap over a wall." Psalm 18:28-29

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall...Humpty Dumpty had a great fall. All the king's horses and all the king's men couldn't put Humpty Dumpty back together again. Do you have walls in your life? I know I have. Walls can be impossible circumstances that leave us frozen by fear, unable to do anything to help ourselves. Walls can be things that keep us bogged down, unable to move. Walls can be overwhelming because we don't know what's on the other side...good or bad. God's Word says He will light my lamp and enlighten my darkness. Those times of "hitting the wall" are truly dark times. He lights our path and shows us the way. Notice that the scripture does NOT say that He will tear the wall down, or make a way around the wall. "By my God I can leap over a wall." This denotes some responsibility on our part. We have to be willing to help ourselves get over the wall. At times we may feel as though we can do nothing...other times we might get halfway up the wall, but feel ourselves slipping back down...through God's strength, we can leap over that wall. Not by our own might...but through God. He intervenes and helps us cope as we climb it, or leap over it. We shouldn't worry about falling. The King of Kings can put us back together again.

Father, I thank You for lighting my path and illuminating the darkness in my life. I thank You that when I reach a wall, as I so often do, I have nothing to fear. Through Your strength I can leap over that wall. Help me, Lord, not to be afraid of falling. You are the King of Kings, and You will put me back together again. I love You, Lord. Amen and amen.

Fun-filled Friday...

Fun-filled? Really? This day is not gonna be much fun. We're putting up corn today. Love to eat it...hate to put it up. In the garden at 7:00 AM to pull the corn and shuck it. Then, it's off to the kitchen where we'll blanch it and cut it off the cob, bag it up, and stuff it in the freezer. I'll be lovin' it this winter, though. So, I'll suck it up and get the job done. The sooner I get it over with, the sooner I can come back and stamp. In the meantime, I'll leave you with a couple of goodies I made yesterday afternoon before Stamp Club. The purse is a total CASE from Yvonne's Stamping Place. The little pull-out scrapbook is based on the SCS tutorial. Check it out!

What's On Your Mind?

"Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy---meditate on these things." Philippians 4:8

There are lots of things rattling around in my head...but what are they? What does God want to occupy my mind? Are my thoughts noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous, praiseworthy? I'm afraid I'd have to answer a big NO to that one. I start each day trying to think lovely, virtuous, praiseworthy thoughts, but inevitably something happens to thwart that plan. I get up out of bed and grab some coffee (only to find that my half-n-half is all gone), or I discover that the laundry fairy forgot to wash the outfit I wanted to wear. I guarantee you that lovely thoughts are not going through my mind at that point. That's life. We all have good intentions, but life gets in the way. God understands that we're human. We're not perfect. He knows that...He's the one who made us. Yet, His Word says we are to think on those things that are noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous, and praiseworthy. No, we're not going to get it right all the time. But, we can strive each day to live with that goal in mind. Those thoughts should guide our actions, and our relationships with others. You know, all actions begin with a thought. If our thoughts are ugly, mean, vicious, nasty...what will our actions be like?

Lord, You know me. You know how hard I try to think "the right way", but You also know how often I fail. I praise You, Father, that You still love spite of my shortcomings. Help me to continue to strive each day to think thoughts that would make You proud of me. I love You. Amen and amen.

Lavish Worship...

"Then one of the Pharisees asked Him to eat with him. And He went to the Pharisee's house, and sat down to eat. And behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil, and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and she began to wash His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil." Luke 7:36-38

Mary Magdelene anointed Christ's feet, the feet that would crush the head of the adversary. The jar of oil she used first had to be broken. That jar would have cost Mary Magdelene a year's wages. Truly, that was lavish worship. Would I worship so lavishly? With no regard to the cost? Why not? What is stopping me? Others' opinions? What will people think? or is it me...Anne Marie, you're embarrassing yourself...

Lord, I want to worship you lavishly, as Mary Magdelene did. Of whom much has been forgiven, much is required. Lord, You have forgiven me so much...I have no right not to worship lavishly. Give me a heart for lavish worship. Make me oblivious to all around me as I come to worship You. I love You. Amen and amen.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16

Do you remember that little Bible school song..."Whosoever surely meaneth me, surely meaneth me, surely meaneth me...whosoever surely meaneth me, whosoever meaneth me..."? Whosoever is such a funny word to me, but it has a powerful meaning in this scripture. Whosoever means anyone and everyone..male, female, red, yellow, black, white, from any country, any religion. Whosoever believes and calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. What hope! What a promise! The ball is in our court. We call the shots. It is our choice to believe or not. God will not force Himself upon us. As for me and my house, we believe and serve the Lord!

I didn't intend this devotional to be evangelical, but God apparently did. He calls it, I write it.

Thank You, God, for the precious message of hope and the promise of life everlasting through the shed blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Thank You for loving me, in spite of myself. Father, my prayer today is that if there be anyone reading this that does not know You as Lord and Savior, let today be the day of their salvation. I love You. Amen and amen.

Change Me...

"Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting." Psalm 139:23-24

I don't know about you, but there are many times when I say things to myself like, 'Why does he act like that?', or 'I wish Richard wouldn't be so...' In reality, I know that there are things about me that get on his nerves, too. This scripture is reminding me that I should be asking God to change me, not Richard. I'm the one that needs changing.

Oh, God, I ask You today to search my heart. There are so many attitudes and thoughts residing there that are not holy. I ask You to change my heart, Lord, so that it's more like Yours. I love You. Amen and amen.

Let it Rain...

"You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust." Matthew 5:43-45

Usually, in the summer afternoons, you can see thunderclouds building up in the sky. It seems like the rain misses our little part of the county so often, though. What's so funny (not really) is that it might be raining 50 yards from our house, but not rain on us. I find myself wondering, "What are we doing wrong? Why aren't we getting any rain? Why are 'those people over there who never go to church' getting rain when we're not?" Sounds kinda selfish, I know, but truth is truth. I do think that probably do, too. But, God's Word says it rains on the just and unjust. So, I just have to keep praying for more rain!

Father, I thank You so much for the wonderful, life-giving rain You graciously sent us yesterday. The air smelled so clean and fresh. I ask that You continue to send rain on our parched land...on the just and the unjust. Lord, there are those in our country who have had so much rain that their homes and land have been destroyed by floods. Your Word says those things will happen in the last days. I pray for them, Lord, that the waters would recede in those areas, and that they can get their lives back together. I love You, Lord. Amen and amen.
